Sound Pollution Eclectic (AT)

S.P.E. is a genre-defying quintet born from the international jazz scene in Graz and led by Swedish trombonist Karel Eriksson. The ensemble’s five members—each alumni of the Graz University of Music and Performing Arts—are active across Europe’s progressive music stages.

Their fearless sound embraces free improvisation, complex harmonies, and tight ensemble interplay. The Path North, their upcoming album (to be released in 2026), reflects on the plight of migrants, capturing the emotional depth of displacement, struggle, and hope through dark textures, intricate rhythms, and fragile lyricism.

Notably, their bass-less instrumentation creates open, spacious soundscapes rooted in modern jazz, avant-garde, and experimental traditions, yielding a distinctive and politically conscious musical voice.
