CHRPY (CZ)

CHRPY is made up of four experienced musicians, each coming from different projects: Vegy brings drive and a wealth of ideas, Tomsn a sense for emotion and arrangement, Stoláč more subtle lyricism and a versatile vocal, and drummer Tom precision and energy. Czech was a clear choice from the start — partly as a challenge, partly as a natural next step.

“We came together at a point when we already know exactly what we want to do and why,” the band says. “We have jobs, families, other projects — objectively less time than before, but paradoxically it feels more free. We care less about numbers and expectations, and focus more on the joy of creating.”

The band’s debut, Co mohlo být, sums up roughly two years of working together. The songs and lyrics were written intensively during the first two months after the initial session, but the final form developed over time. The themes? Nostalgia, misunderstanding, and at times even hopelessness. Production, mixing and mastering were handled by Damián Kučera (Skywalker, etc.), who became a full part of the creative process. “We often rewrote arrangements and searched for stronger solutions, but we managed to keep most of the original ideas from the demos,” the band recalls.
