UNITED ISLANDS GOT PRAGUE GOING AND DANCING!
The eighth edition of United Islands, an international music festival on the islands of the Vltava in Prague’s historical downtown from 23 to 25 June, ended yesterday. Over 40,000 visitors arrived, making 2011 the most successful edition in history. The nine stages of the festival hosted more than 150 bands from over 20 countries. Before the event began, the organizers claimed that this year’s United Islands would be the freest, largest, and most varied in history. Take the Tram to United Islands Club Night!
Thursday, 23 June, on the eve of United Islands, Prague’s largest open-air music festival, opens Club Night to offer all visitors concerts of young Czech bands across all music styles. Twenty clubs of Prague will host concerts by more than 60 bands, DJs, and various forms of music projects. All concerts, like the festival itself, are admission-free. If you are interested in Czech music scene, you have a unique opportunity to see as much as six concerts in three different clubs in a single evening. Tramway lines 5, 9, and 12 provide full-scale coverage of Club Night to relieve you of worries about travelling from one club to another. Více

The Freest Festival Opens in Prague within a Few Hours!
Only a couple of hours remain until the beginning of the United Islands festival; the eighth edition of the event is held this weekend, 23 – 25 June. Its spirit ranks the festival among the freest events of its kind not only in the Czech Republic. There are no fences in the festival, admission is voluntary, and the dramaturgy allows both famous and emerging bands to perform for thousands of visitors. “BE MY PARTNER!” UNITED ISLANDS FESTIVAL INVITES ITS VISITORS
This year, too, the organizers of the United Islands music festival continue their effort to engage the spectators to sponsor their favorite event. The festival, like in its previous editions, does not have a traditional admission fee; however, the visitors may purchase a Partner Pass and become individual partners of the event, supporting it with a symbolic one hundred crowns. The Partner Pass will be available in all clubs participating in the Club Night on 23 June, and in the Open Air part of the event, 24-25 June. Více

CUBA FORBIDS THREE MEMBERS OF PORNO PARA RICARDO FROM PERFORMING AT UNITED ISLANDS
The organizers of the United Islands music festival have planned the European premiere of Porno para Ricardo from Cuba as one of the major concerts for Saturday night. Although the organizers as well as the artists have met all the requirements for issuance of exit permits, Cuban authorities have refused to issue the documents to the band. The organizers are not giving up and they have set up an alternative plan. Gorki, the band leader, will be performing with Czech musicians. On Tuesday, festival organizers sent a letter to the President of Cuba, Raúl Castro, to ask him to issue exit permits to the band members. Více

2011 UNITED ISLANDS FESTIVAL BIGGEST EVER!
Česká spořitelna has become the new General Partner of United Islands, the event is to pass the frontier of 150 performing musical projects from 23 to 25 June 2011. Prague is going to catch the rhythm in 20 clubs and 9 stages on the islands. With a mere month before it opens, United Islands, Prague’s biggest music festival, confirms more bands, three new stages, and a new general partner, Česká spořitelna! The artists who have recently confirmed their participation include Archie Bronson Outfit, a newcomer to the British indie scene; Porno Para Ricardo, a punk project from Cuba; Afghan New Generation rappers from London; Deolinda, a Portuguese fado band, or Guidance Counselor, an American producer of independent electronica. Festival United Islands reveals most of its program headed by the British fighters Audio Bullys
Traditional Prague music festival, United Islands, from 23 to 25 June is creating a large festival zone in the historical centre of Prague already for the eighth consecutive year. In Žofín, Střelecký island, Dětský island and Kampa five main scenes will be built presenting over a hundred bands from fifteen countries from all over the world. This year’s United Islands festival invited the stars of the British electro scene, Audio Bullys, a Spanish cult band, La Troba Kung Fu, or ska punk discovery, Russkaja. Full Program of the United Islands Festival Unveiled
The full program of the United Islands, Prague’s International Music Festival, has been unveiled! The festival is held from June 24 to 26 and apart from the traditional quality selection of interesting, new bands, this year brings several novelties. We have decided to change the locations of several stages and implemented the Partner Pass to offer the visitors to become partners of the festival and participate actively in the program. PRAGUE 1 APPROVES: THE ISLANDS WILL BE ON THE ISLANDS!
The district municipality of Prague 1 has issued its final approval of the locations for the United Islands festival without comments! Now it is certain that more than 100 bands from 10 countries will appear on the stages, located on the Střelecký Island, Kampa, Slovanský Island, Dětský Island and the surrounding river banks. We are now busy with working on the program which will unveil the first confirmed acts. Speaking of international participants, we will gladly welcome The Cinematics from the UK, Amparo Sanchez from Spain and Miloopa from Poland. As to domestic artists, the audience will see Xindl X, Sporto, Midi lidi, Poslední výstřel, BraAgas, Burana orchester and many more. Více

The United Islands Reloaded Series Starts with NoJazz, the Discovery of 2008
The United Islands festival is starting a series of concerts in May to remember some of the successful participants of the past years of the event. The first part of the United Islands Reloaded will present the popular French band of noJazz, appearing in the Lucerna Music Bar on May 27, 2010. The ensemble will be presenting their latest CD “Zooland” which was released in December 2009. The support band for noJazz will be Segundo, which appeared in Kampa in the last year. Více
